About Sermon Translate

Sermon Translate is a live sermon translation app designed for multilingual churches and individual churchgoers. It captions the sermon in the listener's language while the pastor speaks, surfaces Bible passages when clearly referenced, and saves transcripts and AI sermon notes for review.

What it is

A browser-based live translation and note-taking tool for Christian services, pastoral visits, Bible seminars and conferences.

Who it is for

Multilingual churches, immigrant congregations, missionaries, pastors visiting members who speak another language, and individual churchgoers who want to follow a service in their own language.

What makes it different

It is built around the workflow of a church service: church vocabulary, Bible book names, verse-reference popups, right-to-left layouts, honorifics, and a custom glossary, not a general purpose translation interface.

How it works in one paragraph

A phone, tablet or laptop near the pulpit listens to the preaching. Speech recognition turns the sermon into text in the language being spoken, and the text is translated into the reading languages the church chose. Captions appear on that device, on the projector through the Subtitles screen, on a livestream through an OBS overlay, and on listeners' phones. When a Bible passage is clearly named, the verse opens in each reader's language and Bible version. The transcript is saved for review and AI sermon notes.

Languages

61 languages can be preached into the app, and all 123 can be read as captions. Korean, Chinese and English are tuned with particular care, with church vocabulary and Bible book names built in, and Farsi captions read right to left.

Price

Every account gets 1 free hour every month of live translation with no credit card. Basic is $19.99 a month for 12 hours, and Standard is $34 a month for 30 hours with subtitle mode, transcripts, AI sermon notes and a custom glossary. QR Code Join is included in every plan, and Subtitles for Basic is $10.00 a month.

What it does not do

It does not speak the translation aloud, it needs an internet connection, and it recognises sung lyrics less reliably than speech. It is a tool that serves the preaching, not a replacement for pastors, teachers or interpreters.

Who makes Sermon Translate?

Sermon Translate is built by Christians for the church. The faith page explains what the team believes and how the app handles Scripture.

Is there a free plan?

Every account gets 1 free hour of live translation each calendar month, with no credit card. There is no free unlimited plan.

How do churches translate sermons live with this app?

The speaker opens Sermon Translate on a phone, tablet or laptop, selects the spoken language and the translation language, and starts listening. Transcripts and translations appear on that device, and the whole room can read them as captions on a projector or livestream. No headsets, no interpreter booth, no extra hardware.

Which languages are supported?

Sermon Translate supports 123 languages. 61 of them can be spoken from the pulpit, including English, Traditional Chinese, Cantonese, Korean, Japanese, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Vietnamese and 53 more, and all 123 can be read as captions. Every listener can pick their own reading language. The full list is on the languages page.

How is this different from Google Translate or generic AI translation apps?

Google Translate is a powerful general-purpose translator. Sermon Translate is designed around the workflow of a Christian service: church vocabulary, hymn titles, proper names, Bible book names, and verse-reference popups that appear when the speaker clearly references a passage.

Do we need to install anything?

No. It runs in a modern browser on iPhone, Android and desktop. The speaker opens it on one device, and the congregation reads the captions on the projector or livestream. Anyone who wants captions on their own phone opens Sermon Translate there and signs in; each listener needs their own account or trial after the free period.

Can it replace a human interpreter?

Sermon Translate works as a sermon interpreter app for live services and handles common preaching vocabulary well. A church can use it as the main translation for weekly services, or alongside a human interpreter for rare languages or high-stakes events. It is a tool, not a person.
